THE SALSA RHYTHM DANCED THROUGH PUERTO RICO ON “NATIONAL ZALSA DAY”

What: The 25th Anniversary of "National Zalsa Day" in Puerto Rico, presented the best salsa bands of all times. This specific day is dedicated to celebrating salsa, and the musicians responsible for bringing this wonderful musical genre to people all around the world. 

Who: Z-93.7 FM staff, Mega TV personalities, and the most famous Salsa bands and singers were present at this celebration. The musicians included: Larry Harlow and Ismael Miranda, Junior González, Luis Rosario & Emo Luciano,  “El Gran Combo”, “La Sonora Ponceña”, the Spanish Harlem Orquestra, “El Conjunto Libre de Nueva York” with Manny Oquendo, Andy González, Pupi Cantor, Germán Olivera, National Tempo, Alomar and Frankie Vázquez, and representing the new generation of salsa was the “Orquesta Siglo XXI” band. Closing the show was the renowned Willie Colón.

Why: The cameras of Mega TV recorded this historic day (for future broadcast) in an effort to support, not only, the great work of their colleagues at SBS' Puerto Rican radio station Z-93.7 FM, which has maintained the flame of salsa as a vibrant musical format throughout the past 25 years, but to also document and record the distinguished Salsa bands that were present at the event. 

When: The special event was held this past Sunday, March 30th.

Where: The Hiram Bithorn Park, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
